Rice sufficiency: Farmers happy with CRI new rice varieties

Ghana’s rice sufficiency is receiving a boost as three new varieties by the Crops Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) triumphed on the test field.The varieties, CRI-Enepa, CRI-Kantinka and CRI-Amakwatia were able to resist the rice blast disease.

The Building and Road Research Institute (BRRI) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has been adjudged winners of the Council Chairman Trophy for 2020.The award is a recognition of being the most commercially oriented institute under the Council which means it generated the highest revenue this year.
