Dr (Mrs) Lucy Amissah is a Principal Research Scientist, and a specialist in Tropical Forest Ecology, Forest Fire Management, Biodiversity Conservation and Forest Landscape Restoration. Dr Amissah has over twenty years’ experience in research and development, project management and partnership building. Dr Amissah has led and participated in many research and applied projects in collaboration with both local and international partners. She has participated in a number of international conferences, technical meetings, and workshops as an invited speaker. She completed a short-term visiting scholar position at the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology/Yale Institute of Biospheric Studies, Yale University, USA. She serves on a number of international scientific committees, including the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Working Party 8.03.05 Forest Fires, the Grants and Awards Committee of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC), and Secondary Forest Research Network (2ndFOR) Steering Committee. Dr Amissah is the Head of the Regional Western Africa Fire Management Resource Center under the auspices of the Global Fire Monitoring Center. She has over 70 publications including peer reviewed journal articles in high impact journals such as Science, Global Change Biology, Biological Reviews, Journal of Ecology, and Functional Ecology. She is a Communicating Editor for the journal, Trees: Structure and Function and the Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Journal of Forestry. Dr Amissah is a faculty member of the CSIR College of Science and Technology.
