Dr. Bright Obeng Kankam is a Senior Research Scientist and the head of the Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Services Division at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-FORIG).

He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology (Specialty: Primatology) from the University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His research interests include biodiversity conservation, ecosystem dynamics, species interactions, and the impact of human activities on natural habitats. Dr. Kankam focuses on studying wildlife populations, their habitats, and the relationships between species and their environment to understand the causes of biodiversity decline and develop sustainable conservation methods. His current research projects encompass primate ecology, animal behaviour, mining impacts on wildlife, ecosystem management, wildlife monitoring, conservation, wildlife ecology, and habitat restoration. He has provided consultancy services to mining companies on biodiversity management programs for over ten years.

Additionally, Dr. Kankam serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Anthropology and Archaeology, University of Calgary in Canada. He previously held the position of Senior Lecturer (Part-time) in the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, Department of Wildlife and Range Management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He has supervised research conducted by both undergraduate and graduate students. He also acts as an external assessor for graduate students' theses at various universities, including Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Ghana. Dr. Kankam is a member of the Research Staff Association of CSIR, the African Primatological Society, and serves as a Scientific Committee Member of the West African Primate Conservation Action.

Ecology, wildlife management, and biodiversity, focusing on ecosystems, animal populations, behaviour, and species conservation in natural and reclaimed areas. I create management plans and biodiversity documents in these areas.
My research interests in biodiversity conservation encompass ecosystem dynamics, species interactions, and the effects of human activities on natural habitats. I also investigate wildlife populations, their habitats, and the relationships between species and their surroundings. My goal is to comprehend the factors contributing to biodiversity decline and devise sustainable conservation strategies.
