CSIR-FORIG INAUGURATES NEW BOARD
The CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-FORIG) has officially inaugurated a new board to provide strategic oversight and governance leadership for the Institute. The Board is chaired by Dr. Kwakye Ameyaw, Lecturer at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and comprises: Dr. Kwame Antwi Oduro – Director, CSIR-FORIG, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong – Ghana Timber Millers Organisation, Mr. Kwame Appiah Biediako – Furniture & Wood Products Association of Ghana, Mr. Yaw Atuahene Nyako – Forestry Commission, Mrs. Josephine Geraldo – Director-General’s Representative, Dr. Ashie Kotey – Director, CSIR-Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute (CSIR-PGRRI)
The members took the oath of office after being briefed on the mandate and vision of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
Delivering his remarks, the Director-General of CSIR, Paul Pinnock Bosu, underscored the need to foster innovation as a catalyst for institutional growth, stressing that research must translate into practical solutions that drive national development.
He also called for strengthened community engagement, noting that collaboration with stakeholders and local institutions is essential to achieving sustainable impact.
The newly inaugurated board is expected to guide CSIR-FORIG in delivering excellence in forestry research, innovation, and stakeholder partnerships.
