Jemima Owusu is an Assistant Research Scientist and the Head of Section of the Wood Furniture and Testing Center (WFTC) under the Wood Industry and Utilization Division, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-FORIG).

She holds an MPhil. in Chemical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Her research focuses on the Preservation of Bamboo using an eco-friendly plant-based extract with the aim of developing an optimal dose concentration of the extract to help in resisting Bamboo from decaying organisms. She also develops models to link Bamboo’s decay rate to the extract concentration.

The scope of her work includes extraction of the plant-based material, characterization of the extract, quality control to ensure standardization, graveyard test, fungi test, and modeling.

She serves on various committees such as the Awards Committee, and Forig Staff Fund (FSF) investment fund all within CSIR- FORIG. She is a member of the Senior Staff Association of CSIR, Women in Engineering (WIE) of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET- Ghana), and Ghana Science Association (GSA)
