During the year under review, we continued to work on the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) project, aimed at establishing a wood and furniture Testing and Accreditation Laboratory at CSIR-FORIG under ISO 17025. The facility is ready and it is expected to be fully operational in 2017. The laboratory will provide the wood industry with the capacity to produce quality wood products.
Research projects implemented under the Climate Change, Environmental Management and Green Technology programme focused largely on promoting the restoration of degraded areas and developing superior tree species (e.g. mahoganies under the mahogany project) for sustainable production of timber.
