Commercialisation Division

 

The prime focus of the Commercialization Division (CD) is to drive business activities of CSIR-FORIG.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates all commercial activities of the Institute and liaises with various divisions to enhance the income generating capacity of CSIR-FORIG;
  • Conceptualize and develop plans for marketing CSIR-FORIG products and services;
  • Develop sales promotion and marketing strategies;
  • Conducts market surveys to identify business opportunities;
  • Organize capacity development programs in livelihood technologies for interested clients;
  • Facilitate communication and branding of the Institute’s products and services;
  • Spearhead Public Private Partnership Agreements with stakeholders;

The Commercialization Division is headed by Alexander Ansong Obeng (Senior Marketing Officer) and has a staff strength comprising 2 senior members, 4 senior staff and 5 junior staff.

The Commercial entities of the Division incorporate the production, marketing and sale of:

  • High Quality Prekese Syrup
  • High Quality Honey
  • Forest Tree Seeds and Seedlings
  • Furniture and other Wood Products
  • Training in Alternative Livelihoods (Snail Farming, Beekeeping, Mushroom Cultivation)
  • Operation of Guest Houses
  • Hiring of Conference Rooms and Grounds

About us

Forestry Research Institute of Ghana is one of the 13 institutes of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). It is located at Fumesua near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It started as a research unit within the Forestry Department in 1962. It was fully established as a research institute and named FOREST PRODUCTS RESEARCH INSTITUTE (FPRI) under the then Ghana Academy of Sciences in 1964 and in 1968 placed under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
