RESEARCH PROJECTS
- Bamboo is an important natural resource sustaining the livelihood millions of people in several countries. Efficient utilisation of bamboo resources will no doubt create jobs and support economic growth. Building the capacities and competencies of Artisans and Craftsmen of the Bamboo industry, stands to reduce over-reliance on Ghana’s declining timber resources, create jobs and conserve the environment.
- The Global Tree Seed Bank Programme is currently being implemented to secure some of the world’s most threatened, rare and useful tree species. Funded by the Garfield Weston Foundation and coordinated by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RGB, Kew) , the programme aims to collect and conserve seeds of more than 5,000 of the world's tree species of the hardest to reach and rarest tree species on earth and develop world leading techniques for conserving trees on the brink of extinction.
- Aubregrinia taiensis occurs in Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire. When this project began, very little was known about the species’ distribution, population status or phenology and no conservation actions were in place. Since 2019, FORIG and CSRS have been working collaboratively to build up a better understanding of this species, the causes of threat and its conservation needs.
